NCDOT Bridge Locations

These bridge shapefiles contain many kinds of structures currently maintained by the Bridge Maintenance Unit of the NCDOT. They reflect an ongoing integration between the structures found on the Bridge Inventory Maps, maintained by the NCDOT GIS Mapping section, and in the bridge database, maintained by the Bridge Maintenance Unit. As such, the shapefiles may not accurately reflect the structures currently in service or the additions and deletions to the Bridge Inventory system which are performed on a daily basis.

a seven-digit number that uniquely idenfies each structure in the bridge point file. It is comprised of a 3-digit county number (001 - 100), followed by the same bridge number found in the Bridge_Num attribute. The 3-digit county number (BSIP code) will be one number higher than the 2-digit county number found in the Bridge_Num attribute.
