As tropical storm Ike enters Gulf of Mexico, (GOM) as a weak category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 85 miles, after causing extensive damage across Haiti and Cuba, it may regain its strength to become a category 3 hurricane
. NOAA's periodic forecasts show it charting a course across the GOM and making eventual landfall in Southern Texas coast near Corpus Christi sometime between Fri and Sat.The poly shapefile shows probabilities of occurrence of five foot or more storm surge along the Gulf Coast.
