____ DRAFT ___ Metadata Version: 0.1 Title: 2008 Presidential Election Exit Polls by Income, USA by State, November 2008 Citation: CNN Theme Keywords: demographics, election, exit polls, income, mccain, obama, politics, polls, president, race, usa Place Keywords: [not yet implemented] Abstract:This dataset is one section of the 2008 CNN Exit Polls for the Presidential Election. This section provides information in voters income and income by white 0r non-white. The data was retrieved from the CNN Election Center 2008 section on Exit Polls by State. The data was then formated and joined to a shapefile of the USA states. Values of -1 represent no data available. Often, certain questions were asked of people in some states but not others so some attributes only have answers for a select number of states. All numbers represent the percentage of voters. The categories for each question are the percent of voters who ... (ex. have a high school education), that voted for Obama; for McCain; for other or did not answer; and total voters. A separate category was created and calculated for each question to provide the percent difference between voters for Obama and McCain. The value was calculated by subtracting the percent vote for Obama by the percent vote for McCain, therefore, positive numbers are where Obama had the highest percentage and negative numbers are where McCain had the highest percentage. For these specific attributed, no data available is represented by a 0 rather than -1.
